1. GRADUATION DAY
PG Department of Commerce organized the graduation day on 10h June 2024, for the 2022-24 batch passed out students. It was held at AV Hall from 1.00 PM to 4.00 PM. The dignitaries on the Dias were, Fr. Niju Thalachira CST, Director of LISSAH, Dr. Benny Joseph, Principal of LISSAH, and Mr. Vikas George HOD of Commerce Department. The program started with a majestic and grand academic procession followed by prayer. MS. Akshara K Babu, faculty of commerce department, welcomed the dignitaries and HOD, Mr. Vikas George motivated the students not to forget their value system,
2. SEMINAR ON GST ESSENTIALS: REGISTRATION, FILLING AND BEYOND
The PG Department of Commerce at LISSAH College recently organized an informative session titled "GST Essentials: Registration, Filing, and Beyond," featuring a guest speaker from the Perfect Professional Academy (PPTA) on 14th July 2024. Ms.Akshara K Babu, faculty of department of Commerce delivered the welcome speech. The session aimed to demystify the complexities of Goods and Services Tax (GST) for students, focusing on the registration process and return filing. The speaker provided a detailed walkthrough of the GST registration process, explaining the requirements, documentation, and steps involved in successfully registering under GST. Emphasizing the significance of timely and accurate GST return filing, he highlighted the various forms, deadlines, and common challenges that businesses face in compliance.Additionally, the speaker shed light on the growing career opportunities in the field of GST, particularly in the areas of taxation, compliance, and consultancy. He stressed the importance of students equipping themselves with knowledge in this domain, as GST is a critical component of the Indian taxation system and offers vast potential for professional growth. 3. Live Streaming of Union Budget 2024-25
PG Department of Commerce was organized a live streaming of Union budget 2024 - 25 on 23rd July 2024.The primary objective of the event was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Union Budget 2024. The event aimed to create an interactive platform where students could discuss and debate the potential implications of the budget on different sections of society and the economy. The event commenced with a brief introduction to the Union Budget, its importance, and the structure of the session. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Aiswarya Roy ,Asst .prof, Department of Commerce who emphasized the significance of understanding budgetary policies and their impact on the economy. The Union Budget presentation was streamed live for the students. The session was moderated by Mr.Vikas George, head of the Commerce department who provided explanations and context to the budget announcements, ensuring that students could follow along with the proceedings. The live streaming of the Union Budget and the subsequent discussion and debate provided students with valuable insights into economic policies and their impacts.
4. MEET YOU ALUMNI
On August 09,, 2024, Our department hosted an enlightening interaction session between junior students and alumni. The event aimed to bridge the gap between current students and their predecessors, offering valuable insights and inspiration. Senior alumni, Mr.Amal Joshy share his experiences, challenges, and successes since graduation.Mr.Vikas George, Head of the commerce department welcomed the gathering. The interaction was highly motivating, with many juniors expressing newfound clarity about their future goals and career aspirations. Alumni shared practical advice on navigating professional environments, leveraging educational experiences, and maintaining resilience. The event concluded with a networking session, fostering connections that could benefit both the students and alumni in future endeavors. 5. EXCELLO- COMMERCE STUDENTS ASSOCIATION INAURATION
The inauguration cer The inaugural ceremony of the Post Graduate Department of Commerce Students Association (LUCROR) for the academic year 2024-25 was held on 23rd August 2024. The event marked the formal beginning of the association's activities for the year, with various dignitaries and students in attendance. The program commenced with a warm Welcome Speech delivered by Navya, the President of LUCROR, who greeted the gathering and set the tone for the event. Following this, the Presidential Address was given by Dr. Benny Joseph, the Principal of LISSAH, who emphasized the importance of such associations in fostering academic and professional growth among students. The ceremony's highlight was the Lighting of the Lamp and Inaugural Address, performed by Lt. Dr. Sujin K. N., Assistant Professor at the PG & Research Department of Economics, Government Arts & Science College, Calicut. His address inspired the students to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by LUCROR.Dr. Benny Joseph then proceeded to Hand Over the Badges and Present the Oath to the newly elected office bearers of LUCROR, symbolizing their official induction and commitment to the association's goals. 6.Talk on :Decoding The Union Budget 2024-25
On 23rd Aug On 23rd augustust 2024, the PG Department of Commerce, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Club, and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC), organized an insightful talk on "Decoding The Union Budget 2024-25." The event took place at the college premises and was attended by students, faculty, and staff members.The resource person for the event was Lt. Dr. Sujin K. N, an esteemed Assistant Professor from the PG & Research Department of Economics at Government Arts and Science College, Calicut. Dr. Sujin is well-known for his expertise in economic policies and financial management, and his insights into the Union Budget were highly anticipated.The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Akshara K, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. She highlighted the significance of understanding the Union Budget and how such knowledge is crucial for both students and professionals in the field of commerce and economics.During his talk, Dr. Sujin expertly broke down the complex elements of the Union Budget 2024-25, covering key aspects such as fiscal policy, sectoral allocations, and the implications for various industries. 7. Signing of MoU
The PG Department o PG Department of Commerce at LISSAH and Perfect Professional Training Academy (PPTA), Kozhikode, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 29, 2024. This MoU aims to enhance the development opportunities for students from both institutions through collaborative efforts. The signing ceremony was conducted with the participation of key figures from both organizations. Dr. Benny Joseph, Principal of LISSAH, and Vinod K.P., Director of Kozhikode CMA Support Centre (PPTA), represented their respective institutions during the signing. Also present were Fr. Niju Thalachira CST, Director of LISSAH, Mr. Samuel, Operations Manager of Kozhikode CMA Support Centre (PPTA), and Vikas George, HoD of Commerce at LISSAH.This partnership is set to provide students with improved resources, training programs, and skill development initiatives, furthering their academic and professional growth
8. LIVE WORKSHOP ON STOCK TRADING
The PG Dep PG Department of Commerce, in collaboration with Muthoot Securities, ED Club, and IEDC, successfully conducted a Live Workshop on Stock Trading on 19th November 2024. The event began with a warm welcome by Mr. Vikas George, Head of the Department of Commerce, who addressed the audience and highlighted the importance of financial literacy and the growing relevance of stock trading in today’s economic landscape.The workshop provided an insightful introduction to the world of stock trading, catering to both beginners and those looking to deepen their understanding of the stock market.The interactive nature of the workshop allowed participants to actively engage with the speakers, ask questions, and clarify doubts, ensuring a productive learning experience. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and members of the ED Club and IEDC. It served as a platform to connect budding traders with industry experts, promoting hands-on learning and networking opportunities. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Merin Peter, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce. She expressed gratitude to Muthoot Securities, the ED Club, IEDC, and all participants for their contribution to the success of the workshop. 9. CAREER GUIDENCE PROGRMME
The PG Department of PG Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Commerce - Lakshya, Calicut, organized a career guidance program aimed at providing valuable insights and guidance to commerce students. The event took place on 21st February 2025 at 11:30 AM. Ms. Merin Peter, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, welcomed the gathering with an inspiring speech. She emphasized the importance of career guidance in shaping the future of commerce students and expressed her gratitude to the Indian Institute of Commerce - Lakshya for their collaboration. The resource person for the event was Mr. Jishnu T K, a renowned Career Guidance Counselor from Lakshya, Calicut. Mr. Jishnu T K shared his extensive knowledge and experience in the field of career counseling, providing students with valuable insights into various career paths and opportunities in the commerce sector. Mr. Jishnu T K discussed the wide range of career options available to commerce students, including accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, and entrepreneurship. Mr. Jishnu T K offered personalized advice to students, helping them identify their strengths, weaknesses, and interests to make informed career choices. Ms. Akshara K Baby, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, conveyed the vote of thanks. 10. WORKSHOP ON DATA ANALYSIS USING EXCEL
The PG Department of PG Department Commerce, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), conducted an insightful workshop on "Data Analysis Using Excel" on the 25th of February, 2025. The workshop was attended by students and faculty members, aiming to enhance their data analysis skills using Excel.Dr. Ganeesh R, Assistant Professor in the PG and Research Department of Commerce and Management Studies at St. Mary's College, Sultan Bathery, served as the resource person for the workshop.
Dr. Ganeesh's extensive expertise in data analysis and commerce enriched the session, providing valuable insights and practical knowledge. The event commenced with a warm welcome by Ms. Merin Peter, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. Her introductory remarks set a positive tone for the workshop and highlighted the importance of data analysis in contemporary commerce practices.Ganeesh R conducted an interactive and engaging session, covering various aspects of data analysis using Excel, including Introduction to Excel functions and features, Data cleaning and preparation techniques, Statistical analysis and interpretation of data, Visualization tools and techniques in Excel, Real-world applications and case studies etc.
11. PLACEMENT STRATEGIES- SECURING A CAREERIN THE PUBLIC SECTOR
The Postgraduate D PG Department of Commerce, in association with the Cubit Academy, IQAC, and the Placement and Training Cell of Lissah was conducted a session on Placement Strategies - Securing a Career in Public Sector for the final year UG students on 4th March 2025 at 11.30 AM in the college auditorium. The event began with a cordial welcome speech by Mr. Vikas George, the Head of the Department of Commerce. His address emphasized the importance of understanding public sector career opportunities and effective placement strategies.Mr. Rugesh Kalari, Director of Cubit Academy, provided valuable guidance on navigating public sector entrance exams and achieving success through structured preparation.Mr. Hiran Ramakrishnan, SSC Head at Cubit Academy and Civil Service Faculty at Rau's IAS, shared his expertise on preparing for civil service examinations. His insights were particularly focused on systematic study plans, staying motivated, and understanding the selection process.
The resource persons, with their extensive experience and practical advice, inspired the attendees and provided actionable strategies for embarking on public sector careers.The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Aiswarya Roy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. She extended gratitude to the resource persons, faculty members, organizers, and students for their participation and contribution to the session's success.
A one week state level Entrepreneurship Development Camp conducted by Department of Industries and Development Government of Kerala for 150 students in various institutions in Kerala, based on entrance exam our six students from III year B com is qualified and attended the camp from 24/06/2019 to 30/06/2019. The students are Amal George, Senjumon Joseph, Athul Babu, Elbin Shojan, Jerin George and Nevin Saji.
Department of commerce in association with Life Insurance Corporation of India Thamarassery branch is conducted an awareness program for starting an insurance development business and office on 08/07/2019.
On the basis of our academic plan IIIrd semester M Com students conducted a one day Industrial Visit at Anna aluminum and Kitex garments at Kochi on 02/08/2019. I st semester M Com students conducted a one day Industrial Visit to Tata Tea Factory on 15/11/2019
A workshop is arranged for getting knowledge in how to prepare resume and bio data for the entire department by Trainer Saji M on 25/09/2019.
A training session is arranged for PG students for the purpose of giving confidence to attend interviews in the competitive job market by Mr. Prince Joseph (Trainer Lions Club Thamarassery), on 30/09/2019.
Seven students of IIIrd year B Com was participated a management fest at Mariyan College Kuttikanam on 26/09/2019.
Linnet Pothen and Akash Lukose from III rd semester M Com presented two papers in the management fest conducted in Holy Cross Institute of Management and Govt. College Madapally respectively.
Conducted Investment Awareness Seminar on 4th October 2019 by National Stock Exchange team. The seminar was conducted by Mr. Rajesh R.S, faculty of National Stock Exchange. The purpose of the seminar was to create awareness about Mutual Funds, benefits of investing in mutual funds, different mutual funds in India. There were about 50 students participated in the session. Faculties present in the session were Mr. Charles Vijay and Mr. Vikas George. The program was arranged in association with department of Compurt Science.
To assess students understanding of the practicalities of business market, a unique food fest was organized at LISSAH College in association with ED Club by I year M Com students on 17 th October 2019 the college union inauguration day. The students were asked to market and sell their products which included different kind of food items. The flavors of homemade items on the menu was enough to give stiff competition, food items such as bread and chicken curry, kappa and fish curry, unniyappam, mutta sukka, kesari and juice items like watermelon, lemon , sarbath , sambaram and various salted dishes were in high demand. Fr. Niju Thalachira( Vice Pincipal) inaugurated the food court. Chief guest of the function and college authorities are visited the food court. The shop was closed by 3.00pm after selling all items by students. It was a grand profitable event in the history of Department of Commerce.
Dr. Lijeesh P (Asst. Professor Department of Commerce Christ University Bangalore) is conducted a workshop on Education 4.0, skill set in 21 century. 61 students were participated the workshop. By this program the students can make an understanding about skills required in 21 st century. Dr. Lijeesh P introduced various most modern technological updates in education field. The work shop is conducted on 25/10/2019.
The department is arranged a synopsis presentation of fourth semester M Com students. The synopsis are assessed by Dr. Lijeesh P (Asst. Professor Department of Commerce Christ University Bangalore), on 26/10/2019. By this program students get an apprehension about the research work. 17 students were presented their synopsis with ppt presentation.
In association with Logic School Of Management Calicut, Dept of Commerce is arranged a CMA awareness program for the students on 09/11/2019. CMA is a new opportunity to commerce students especially for abroad. The program was led by Mr. Santhosh CMA(Faculty Trainer Logic School of Management)
Competitive exams have a vital role in student’s carrier so the department is arranged a mock test and provide an awareness class to students about the exams of upsc,ssc,rrb psc etc. The test is conducted in association with TIME school of Higher Studies.58 students were attend the exam on 11/12/2019.
To get an ample idea about the future of commerce student department arranged a carrier talk by C A Jagdish (Charted Accountant of Expert Gyan) for the entire students. 60 students were participated the program. The program is conducted on 07/01/2020
Synopsis presentation for B Com final year students were conducted on 03/02/2020. The faculties of the Department assessed the synopsis and give suggestions for improvement. 32 students were presented their synopsis with ppt presentation.
The PTA meeting of V th semester B Com students were arranged on 04/10/2019. A progress report with internal mark and attendance percentage of students are presented to parents. 28 parents are participated the meeting and arranged the facility for personal interaction with faculties.
